Van Soest, Solebay & Christies

Ik krijg toch altijd een dubbel gevoel als Nederlandse kunstwerken geveild worden in het buitenland of naar het buitenland worden verkocht, zeker als je niet weet of het werk ooit nog eens voor het publiek toegankelijk zal zijn. Aan de andere kant hebben de veilighuizen hun zaakjes zo goed voor elkaar dat hun handelswaar toegankelijk is, wat natuurlijk een fraaie bron is voor verder onderzoek.

I have mixed feelings about dutch heritage, like the above painting by Van Soest, being sold abroad. There's the financial gain of course, but on the other side, there;s the chance that a great work of art will never be seen for the public.
