Geschiedenistijdschriften ~ various history magazines

Tja, ik maar denken dat geschiedenis niet leeft. En dat is dus niet zo, getuige deze lijst aan tijdschriften op de website Historien. Voor elk wat wils, van populair wetenschappelijk (zoals Mussolini van het tijdschrift Historia) tot saai wetenschappelijk en specialistisch en deze lijst is niet eens compleet en Vlaanderen komt er ook wel erg bekaaid van af.

Spiegel Historiael, - nu het Geschiedenis Magazine - is toch wel mijn favoriet, naast het niet genoemde Mars et Historia en het Jaarboek van het Legermuseum Armentaria.

Overigens: binnenkort in dit theater, een artikel over Ekeren 1703 (dank aan de KMA en Museum de Vleeshallen in Antwerpen), Mariniersvaandels 1666 en 1672, Seneffe en als er nog tijd over is, wat archiefonderzoek na de voorbereidingen daar voor.




Well, I used to think that history isn't that popular here, but I found a staggering list of history magazines here, and this list isn't even complete, as it is devoted to general history (no mention of let's say legal history or military history) and limited to publications from the Netherlands (so no mention of 'Ons Erfdeel', for instance).

Still, very good to start with and it pointed me to the Geschiedenis Magazine, a sequel of the longs standing magazine 'Spiegel Historiael', (Spiegel means mirror, and refers to a 14th century history book of van Maerlant, who translated it from french into middle-dutch) in which I found several nice references, pictures and book reports, which I shall post in the near future.

I am also working on an article on Ekeren 1703 - thanks to the library of the Royal Army Academy- with some new pictures for which I want to thank the Vleeshallen museum in Antwerp.

On top of that, some more articles on marine flags are in the making and someone in Friesland is working on some flags as well. In the fall of this year the local archives will give a course in paleography, which will hopefully enable me to do some digging in the bills of the Province of Groningen. In due time of course..
