Zowel in Nederland als in België is de zoveelste poging om een kabinet te formeren mislukt. Hoewel beide landen grote overeenkomsten vertonen, liggen de oorzaken van de politieke patstelling in beide landen natuurlijk ergens anders: in België het geruzie over de staatshervorming en in Nederland de positie van de populistische PVV.
Dat er überhaupt een België is, is al bijzonder. Ingeklemd tussen Frankrijk, Duitsland en Nederland is het eeuwen het slagveld van Europa geweest. Ook de Republiek deed hier van harte aan mee.
Opvallend is dat ik tot op heden ik weinig onderzoek tegen gekomen over de relatie tussen het huidige België en Nederland na de vrede van Munster tot aan de Franse tijd.
Om van mijn kant daar eens mee te beginnen: als eerste een kijkje naar de Devolutie oorlog, begonnen door Lodewijk de XIVe om Belgie in te pikken.
Ik verwijs hierbij naar de Engelse wiki (omdat de Nederlandse onder de maat is) voor de achtergronden en gevolgen van deze oorlog: een van de gevolgen van deze oorlog was immers de woede van Lodewijk op de Republiek, en was dus een van de redenen voor de Hollandse oorlog die in 1672 begon.
Het mooie is dat van Spaanse kant er wel wat meer aandacht is, getuige de laatste artikelen op het uitstekende weblog 'Reinado de Carlos II' en een mooi weblog over de Spaanse tercio's in Belgie. Jammer, alleen in het Spaans.

Too bad! The english wiki on the war is based on the works of Lynn, but it's always good to have another source. I suppose the book by Rodríguez Hernández is Spanish only? It would be nice as well if I could contact you further on this matter, can you send me an email on rampjaar@gmail.com?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI think that the book "Lodewijk XIV en de Lage Landen" by Etienne Rooms is a proper source for the War of Devolution as well. Alas, only in Dutch as far as I know.
