Thoneel der Steeden ~ Showcase of cities in the Netherlands

For those who like pictures of cities and towns, and especially for those who like dutch and flemish cities and towns, the works of Caspar Bouttats from Antwerp are a must. His book 'Thoneel der Steeden', gives various pictures of towns and fortresses of the Republic, with amusing (and sometimes wrong) accompanying texts, and wierd perspectives. Nice pictures of farmers, city-dwellers and noblemen and -women.

  2. More scans are available on request! Mind you, they aren't that correct, but they give a good initial view.

  3. It was pictures much like these that opened my imagination in the first place at ages 5,6,7 etc, illustrating childrens' books about historical or biographical subjects. I still like them.
