Koerlandse vaandels ~ Colours from Courland

The first pic was posted a while ago, it's a achoolplate drawn by Hoynck van Papendrecht depicting William III with his guard and in the background dragoons from Courland.

Fellow blogger Gromoboi posted a fascinating article on the Courlands's colours on his blog here, which is a great read and recommended.

~

Another pic from the book "Toneel des Oorlogs", this time of the Bishop of Cologne, who together with Bernard van Galen waged war in 1672 with the Dutch Republic. Rumors have it, he was under influence of the pro-French von Furstenberg family, but in the end he managed to become Bsishop of Munster.

Hele mooie wiki hier.

~

From the University Library, a picture from the book "Toneel des Oorlogs", "The Stage of War", form the war like Bishop of Munster. The English wiki unfortunatly is rather crap, but the dutch one, linked above is quite good
